Tidewater Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Associates, PA was founded in 1984 under the guidance of Dr. W. James Downs, Jr., P.T., D.Sc., E.C.S. and his carefully selected associates in response to the requests of local physicians who were seeking progressive physical therapy services for patients who reside on the Delmarva Peninsula. It is that grassroots attachment that has been the cornerstone of Tidewater’s philosophy.

Tidewater attributes its exceptional growth to a belief in three guiding principles; a respect for its clients, a respect for its employees, and a respect for the community it serves. If you think that all physical therapy practices are created equally, we would like to share with you how our practice stands out amongst the competition.
Tidewater Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Associates, PA is a certified Medicare Rehabilitation Agency. This means that our organization willingly accepts a stringent set of guidelines in which to operate. Our facilities must meet stringent guidelines in order to open up a facility, operate on a daily basis and receive annual inspections similar to that of which a hospital must go through. Becoming a certified Medicare Rehabilitation Agency is not a requirement in order to open a physical therapy clinic but one in which we have willingly accepted. It is the goal of our organization to be the best in our industry and we want the community to know that we willingly accept the challenge to be inspected and graded on our performance. Before considering to seek physical therapy services from any other practice, it is important to ask if it is a Medicare certified Rehabilitation Agency.
Every employee at Tidewater Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Associates, PA is dedicated to making your experience enjoyable and getting you back on the road to good health. Not only will you receive the best care at our facilities but you will enjoy the atmosphere and appreciate the trained professionals who will render the care. We hope after reviewing the history behind our organization and how we stand out amongst the competition, you will afford us the opportunity to provide quality care to you or your loved one.
