Tidewater Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Associates, PA was founded in 1984 as a Medicare-certified rehabilitation agency. The first clinic was opened in Easton, Maryland under the guidance of W. James Downes Jr., PT. D. Sc. E.C.S. and his carefully selected associates. Jim was responding to the call of local physicians who were asking for progressive physical therapy services for their patients. He used his contacts in his field of Electroneuromyography to help Tidewater Physical Therapy spread throughout the Delmarva Peninsula. Today, Tidewater operates 16 outpatient clinics in Maryland and Delaware.

Richard Reed, PT. D. Sc. E.C.S. is a licensed physical therapist who is Board Certified by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties in Clinical Electrophysiology (ECS) and earned his Doctor of Science in Clinical Electrophysiology from Rocky Mountain University in Provo, Utah. He has performed electromyography and nerve conduction testing for over 30 years.  He was the principal examiner for the Philadelphia Hand Center from 1980-1996 and for the Hunter Hand and Nerve Clinic in Philadelphia from 1997-2000. He now operates in his own practice in the Philadelphia and Eastern Pennsylvania areas as well as providing services to Tidewater Electromyography in Delaware since 2005. His areas of interest include cervical and lumbar nerve root problems as well as upper extremity nerve compression syndromes. He has special interest and significant experience in the assessment of traumatic brachial plexus injuries, particularly as they might relate to motor vehicle "whiplash" injuries and repetitive motion type injuries in the work place.
