A Medicare Certified Rehab Agency Specializing in Orthopedic Physical Therapy

Who is a good candidate for physical therapy?
Many people seek physical therapy only when they are injured or referred by a physician, but our therapists can do much more than that. Other reasons people might seek physical therapy include chronic pain, trouble with daily activities, an upcoming surgery, or just preparation for a race or sports season. While many patients do not seek physical therapy until after an injury has occurred, it can be beneficial to seek professional care as a preventative measure.
How many locations does Tidewater Physical Therapy have?
Tidewater Physical Therapy has 16 locations across Delmarva. See them in the drop-down menu at the top of the page.
What should I expect at my first appointment?
Upon your arrival, after filling out new patient paperwork, you will meet your physical therapist. He/she will give you a thorough exam, ask a number of questions related to why you are being seen, and work with you to come up with an individualized treatment plan based on your goals. Provided that you need to be seen again, you will schedule your next visit after you appointment.
What should I wear?
It is best to wear loose-fitting clothing to allow the therapist access to the site he/she is treating. Treatment gowns are available, so do not feel that you need to purchase special clothing to be treated.
What should I bring with me?
You should bring the referral provided by your physician, your license, insurance card(s) and a change of clothing if you are not dressed in appropriate garments.
Do I need a physicians’ referral?
You do not need a physician’s referral to seek treatment at Tidewater Physical Therapy, but we do prefer it based on the condition. Please feel free to contact us first if you are unsure.
Do you take insurance?
We accept all standard insurance companies. We do not want insurance coverage to get in between accepting you as a new patient and scheduling your first visit. We often work out an agreement with an insurance company if it is one we have never worked with before. Please call us and let us work out those details so you only have to work on feeling better.
I have workers’ compensation. Can you take me as a patient?
Provided your workers’ compensation adjuster approves an initial visit with us, we would be happy to accept you as a workers’ compensation patient.
